[FbL.rec022] Parallel 41

Although never released at FeedbackLoop Label, Barbara De Dominicis has been involved with several musicians connected to the label, particularly myself, Monolyth and Cobalt, Savaran and Luca Nasciuti, and she is responsible for the Exquisite What project which is a marvelous project encompassing so many brilliant artists from video, music and photo arts.

That being said, it is with an immense joy that we recommend her latest album with Julia Kent, featuring the project Parallel 41, an album that explores the references of different places, imaginary places, that are at the same time familiar and personal. And from this sharing an album is born, Julia Kent with her Cello, Barbara De Dominicis with her voice and a couple more field recordings. All this documented with the lens of Davide Lonardi.

[FbL.rec020] Jerome Faria - Overlapse

Jerome Faria recently released as a free download at Enough Records his album Overlapse and we highly recommend it. This is one of the albums that has been having more rotation recently.
You can download it HERE or even better support the artist and purchase it in his bandcamp and get an extra set of tracks.

A personal plead

Due to having had my apartment robbed, some very important items were stolen, among them my laptop and my SLR digital camera.

As you can imagine this is not only an horrible situation but it also cripples a lot my ability to make music, and run normally the two labels I run (FeedbackLoop Label and Heart and Soul Publishers).

Fortunately I had finished my latest album and now I am releasing it so I can buy at least a new laptop to be back to my activities as soon as possible.

I am aiming at a value of 2000€, so if you can help me by buying my album I would be very thankful. In addition to buying the digital version of The Blue Nature of Everyday.

I'll be, later in the year/begin 2013, releasing through Heart and Soul a CDr version of it and I will include all people who buy in the thank you credits. Also, if you are very generous on your support (around 20€) you'll have a CDr copy for free.

I'll be keeping track of the amount of money that was donated to this and I would like to thank you upfront for your help and for spreading the word as much as possible.

Yours truly,

Leonardo Rosado

There are defining moments that carry with them an extreme joy or an immense pain, but past that instant what probably remains more vivid is the collection of moments that led to that instant and what followed subsequently. And that process is filled with little details.

In Night, Darwin Raymond explores this path creating a homage to one of his own personal defining moments and painting an oppressive archetypal night of his own, but what one cannot stop feeling is the underlying existence of light still below, undermining the loss and pushing into the day.

Darwin Raymond crafted an album that sounds like classical ambient, with beautiful textures and an ever present guitar.

Short Bio

Darwin Raymond is a musician currently residing in Columbus, Ohio. Primarily guitar based, his recent work has been about the overlap and interplay of the present with memory. While Darwin has been making music for over twenty years, he has only recently begun actively recording and releasing his compositions.

Night was begun two years after his wife passed away and is specifically a reflection of the events regarding her illness, passing and the loss and emotions that have followed. As such, each piece was made by recording a track and immediately overdubbing it with one or more tracks in an attempt to maintain the feeling of that specific time.

This album is dedicated to his wife, Jaime Raymond.

Release notes:

I once wrote that you could see right through Bobby Jones by listening to his music. Laying bare his emotions so deeply that you instantly get the feeling that you know him for several years. A quality which is not easily achievable by everyone.

From These Hands is made of the same substance, a guitar working its way towards deep emotional fields, delicate and at the same time unstoppable. I’ve Lost crafts his music building in tension slowly but decisively.

Additionally, From These Hands paved the way to the poem I wrote called All things yet to be shaped, which is the interpretations I made of the music Bobby presented, and finally the ten parts of the poem were illustrated by the simple yet complex work of Ivo Hoogveld, allowing a true mixed media release crafted in a chain reaction way, adding several layers of interpretation for different senses.

Grandiose, lush, full and immersive are all words that are summoned to my mind when hearing The Darkest Dark Goes by sink \ sink for the very first time. Like an ancient machine warming up Astronávt quavers in, slowly and assuredly joined by an assembly of warm instruments and Kim Schulke’s striking vocals. What follows is an introduction to an album steeped in epic lo-fi sounds, thick and dense orchestration and unbridled emotion.
sink \ sinks' creative process is one of dynamism and fluidity with Gareth Schott writing and recording the music, Kim Schulke taking care of vocals and Callum Plews responsible for writing the majority of the lyrics, mixing and mastering. The end result is enhanced by contributions from established drone artists Darren Harper (Earth Mantra, Twisted Treeline) and Gimu (Sacred Phrases, Audio Gourmet), and complimented by a host of guest musicians.
The stuck-in-molasses Gursky is a prime example of the group adopting the post-rock tag and twisting it into their own little monster with bellowing bass, vocal surgery, sound manipulation and Schulke ruminating on the line, “Climb over my fence, take your indifference and save it for myself”.
The glimmering beauty of Mojave muses on meta-cognition and fearing the fear of being alone as acoustic guitar interpolates with mournful strings for a mid-section that precedes a blistering distorted closing, complete with soaring multi-tracked vocals and crushing percussion (Plews).
sink \ sink have crafted a record that extends the general consensus on modern lo-fi music and pushes its pre-conceived boundaries. A melting pot of influences informs and guides a truly original sound, to deliver a satisfying and challenging listen for fans of atmospheric lo-fi, post-rock and modern classical music.

manifesto

Available music in the web is a marvelous world to uncover, and ever since I came across the concept of Netlabels I was immediately stunned by the amount of music to discover. But shortly after I was overwhelmed by the fast paced releases and hard to find pearls (at least the ones that lasted more than 2 or 3 careful auditions). There are netlabels and record labels for all genres and you can find out there everything, but my intentions regarding the foundation of a label are based on two critical issues: listeners pleasure and tribute to the artist.

I want to release music that lasts one year, ten years, a lifetime, and that gives its listeners always a good reason to get back to it and also to promote as much as possible the artists that produce that music. I’m interested in the sensations that music transmits, its richness and its versatility.
